ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Information Technology which was commenced in 2001 offers PG programme (M.Tech) which was commenced in 2012 with an intake of 18. The Department has a team of well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty members with industrial and teaching background. Every year IT Department organizes seminar, workshop and conference on the recent trends in Information Technology for the benefit of researchers, faculty members from academic Institutions / Industries.

PEO1: Apply the basic fundamental tools and profound knowledge of computer science & engineering to generate interest in newer areas of research and develop the students into successful professionals.
PEO2: Develop innovative and advanced software systems by exploring multiple solutions to computational problems with efficient algorithms giving due consideration to the human context in which the systems would work.
PEO3: Adapt to sustained learning and ever-changing technological and societal requirements
which will enable them to attain a dynamic career in academics and research and
industries.
PEO4: Demonstrate and Practice professional and ethical code of conduct towards team work with societal responsibilities.
PEO5: Engage in continued learning to keep pace with changing landscape of technologies and provide innovative solutions to real-life problems.
PO1: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering Problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3: Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO6: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the Professional engineering practice.
PO7: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
PO8: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
PO9: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
PO10: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
PO11: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to ones own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
PO12: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
PSO1: Analyze common business functions and identify, design and develop appropriate information technology solutions
PSO2: Learn future technologies through acquired foundation skills and knowledge and employ them in business environments and to identify research gaps
Laboratory
Laboratory of M.Tech Information Technology consisting of 27 Pentium i3 and i5 systems and 2 servers, Compaq Presario and HP Proliant ML330.Client machines are attached to servers using structured cabling and modern network switches.Systems are with latest software like Dot Net, J2ME, Multimedia packages, etc.
Department Library
The IT Department Library was started from the inception of the department. It has a total of 1035 books in different areas. Apart from this, UG project reports of IT Department are kept for reference. In addition to this, 99 Compact Discs containing video lectures of eminent professors, Course material and Question banks are also kept for reference. Books are issued to Faculty, Staff and Students of all the departments.

Students are guided to implement mini projects in the recent development areas every semester. Students regularly receive fund from TNSCST and IE (India) to implement major projects. Students regularly publish research papers in reputed journals and conferences.
